Summary / Read source ↗

- VectorCraft is a program for drawing vector art such as logos and illustrations. It follows menus, tools, panels, and shortcut layouts similar to Adobe Illustrator, and the source describes it as a clean-room implementation written from scratch in Rust. - According to the source's own assessment, about 88% of Illustrator 2026's menu items, tools, effects, and formats are implemented. This figure is the development team's own evaluation, comparing their code against Illustrator's official documentation. - It supports importing and exporting SVG, PDF, and PDF-compatible .ai files, and exporting PNG and JPEG. However, the source states that it does not yet reliably exchange the layer structure of real .ai files created by Illustrator, and that Illustrator's editing data is not recorded.

It seems like the first thing to check is whether the .ai layer structure breaks in certain tasks. The original text says Illustrator editing data is not recorded, so for a team that passes shared design files back and forth, this is probably the first thing that will catch your attention. The figure 88% is a value the development team arrived at by comparing its own code against the official documentation, so it may differ from what you actually experience. If you work with SVG icons, I'm curious whether you have opened your existing logo files and compared them against the originals.
