Summary / Read source ↗

- A new tool uses WebUSB, which lets the browser communicate directly with USB devices, to flash LineageOS without a separate installer program. It supports the ADB, Fastboot, Amlogic Burn, and Samsung Odin methods. The source says it is meant to reduce the hassle of finding and installing several flashing programs. - The source states that whether the tool can be used depends on the device, browser, operating system, and USB connection status. The installation methods in the existing wiki remain the default path, and the source says this tool is an additional option. - The updater app now downloads updates by streaming by default. The source says installation time on A/B devices will be greatly reduced. This is the development team's explanation, and the measurement conditions are not given in the source.

The first point that stands out in the WebUSB tool section at the top of the original is that even though the installer tool has moved into the browser, the wiki's existing installation method remains the default path. It also comes with conditions: it may or may not work depending on the device, browser, operating system, and USB connection, so the report alone doesn't tell us which combinations actually work well. If the device you use is an official build target, have you checked the instructions at flash.lineageos.org first to see which connection method they require?
