- Reddit users posted that the new Kindle's screen edges show shadows or an LED strip. It reportedly stands out when brightness is raised in the dark and dark mode is used. - According to the article, it appears on both plastic and aluminum models and in all colors. The article added that the faint glow at the edges may also be the result of the front light and the flat screen structure working together. - Amazon spokesperson Katie Condon said that under certain conditions, such as using dark mode at high brightness in a dark environment, a faint light may appear at the edges of color-bezel devices. She said it can be reduced by lowering the front light. - Good e-Reader reported that Amazon knows about the problem and confirmed that a manufacturing issue in current shipments may have caused the defect. The number of affected devices is not given in the article.

The gap between the LED strip in the Reddit photo and the faint glow Amazon described stands out to me the most. Lowering the front lights to reduce it is a specific step, but the article doesn't say whether that also removes the effect seen in the photo. I think the situation would be clearer if people who use dark mode in dark rooms shared how it looked at different brightness levels.
