- Artists are complaining on social media that songs distributed through the music distributor Distrokid disappeared from streaming services without advance notice, according to the original article. - The company confirmed to The Verge that it removed a very small number of recordings following UMG's claims, while strongly disputing the content of the lawsuit. The announcement came from Amita Perry, vice president of artist services. - UMG claimed in its September lawsuit that Distrokid built an 'AI-slop' pipeline. According to the original, the suit raises both deceptive business practices and clear copyright infringement. - Artist McGwire claimed six of his songs were deleted and that his Stevie Wonder cover was properly licensed. For the song taken down over a sample, the named original was released 2 years after his track, according to the original article.

The point that stands out first is that the original song named in the sample case came out 2 years after the disputed track. I'm curious whether recording the dates of evidence actually works as a defense. The company hasn't disclosed how many tracks were removed, so it's hard to judge from this article alone how wide this goes. If you've ever uploaded a song to a distributor yourself, how did you receive the takedown notice?
