A system that automatically converts standard textbooks into customized levels for special education students with diverse cognitive abilities. It drastically reduces teachers’ prep time and ensures equal learning opportunities.

Why This Idea

Special education teachers must recreate materials every night for students with various disabilities and cognitive levels in a single class. This causes severe teacher burnout and leaves students with unsuitable learning materials. With the expansion of inclusive education, the number of special education students is growing, and public budgets are shifting toward personalized learning. Advancements in natural language processing and pattern recognition now enable automatic conversion of complex text into easy words or pictograms.

Why This Problem Must Be Solved

The biggest problem in special education is the excessive administrative and material preparation workload for teachers. Even with only 5-6 students in a class, cognitive levels and required learning formats vary drastically. Standard textbooks cannot be used, forcing teachers to spend hours every night summarizing text, simplifying words, and finding visual aids. Research shows special educators spend over 4 hours daily on prep, significantly higher than general teachers. This lack of time causes severe burnout and steals time from actual student interaction. Existing educational platforms focus on test scores for general students, ignoring the complex needs of special education. Consequently, students are left with materials unsuited to their cognitive levels, worsening educational alienation. Solving this is a national mandate to ensure the basic right to education for students with disabilities.

Why Now Is the Right Time

Now is the optimal time to solve this due to aligning technological maturity and policy shifts. The importance of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) is globally emphasized, with public budgets steadily increasing. As the edtech market matures, there’s a strong shift from B2C to B2B/B2G customized solutions for public institutions. Previously, understanding context to adjust difficulty or match alternative images for different disabilities was nearly impossible. Today, advanced natural language processing and pattern recognition can automatically convert complex sentences into simple vocabulary and instantly recommend appropriate pictograms. The special education niche remains a blue ocean without a dominant tech platform. Introducing proven automation technologies tailored to special education now provides a critical window to capture the market and build high barriers to entry.

The Change This Creates

When a teacher uploads a standard textbook text, the system instantly generates multiple worksheet versions tailored to each student’s cognitive level with a single click. For example, Student A gets large text with high contrast, Student B gets complex vocabulary replaced with simple native words, and Student C gets pictograms automatically inserted above key terms. Teachers can quickly modify the drafts in an intuitive interface and distribute them instantly. This reduces prep time by over 90%, allowing teachers to invest that saved time in emotional connection and individual guidance. The system learns from teachers’ frequent edits to provide increasingly refined results over time. Ultimately, this service will become the core infrastructure for true inclusive education, adapting to the speed of every individual student.

Why This Approach Works

Existing educational authoring tools focus on flashy design templates, lacking cognitive accessibility and text difficulty adjustment features. Our core differentiation is the automation of ‘cognitive accessibility’, not design. A proprietary ’easy word dictionary’ and ‘contextual pictogram matching database’, built with special education experts, form a strong technical moat. Furthermore, UI engineering perfectly compliant with web accessibility guidelines (WCAG) ensures the system is usable even by teachers or students with disabilities. By adopting a school-level annual subscription model, we generate stable revenue. Once student cognitive profiles and learning histories accumulate, a powerful lock-in effect makes switching to competitors extremely difficult. Success in one school often leads to district-wide adoption through network effects.

How Far This Can Go

Initially, we will target special schools and inclusive classrooms in Korea to validate the service. The local market alone has hundreds of thousands of target students with expanding government budgets (SOM). We can then expand the scope to students with borderline intelligence, dyslexia, and multicultural students facing language barriers. In the mid-to-long term, we will expand the language engine to enter the global special education software market (TAM), especially in regions like the US and Europe with strict inclusive education mandates. Beyond material generation, we can pivot into an integrated management system that tracks student achievement and automatically completes legally required IEP documents. The long-term vision includes acquisition by major educational publishers or adoption as a national public education platform.
