- Shopify said it will let AI agents that users set up browse more than 1 billion products in its catalog and buy them on the user's behalf. The catalog includes products from both inside and outside Shopify-powered stores. - Users set up the agent by connecting it to a Shop account. Shop is an app run by Shopify that offers order history management, shipment tracking, and product recommendations. - When the agent makes a purchase within a conversation, payment is made with Shop Pay, a one-click checkout feature, and the order is linked back to the Shop app. According to the source, each purchase requires the user's approval. - Shopify presented this feature as a 'personal shopping assistant' that can be given rules such as a budget cap or showing only fast-shipping products. This description is marketing language the company uses.

O: This fits a scene where a person living alone who has set a daily budget sets only fast delivery conditions on an AI agent when buying daily necessities, then checks the amount and products on the purchase approval screen. X: According to Shopify's announcement, the original says more agents will be available soon, while the body says they are already available, so the timing is inconsistent. Refund and dispute handling procedures are not covered.
