Summary / Read source ↗

- Traditional 3D movies used polarized glasses, which split resolution and brightness in half, causing significant quality degradation and discomfort. - Video glasses like Xreal, Meta VR Glasses, and Apple Vision Pro provide high-resolution displays over 1080p per eye, enhancing the sense of depth realistically. - Apple Vision Pro supports the latest 3D movie technologies including 4K resolution, HDR, 48fps, and spatial audio, and offers Disney Plus 3D content. Meta VR Glasses will also showcase 3D movies across various streaming apps starting this fall. This information comes from a report by The Verge. - 3D Blu-rays have older technology with 1080p resolution, 24fps, no HDR support, and are physical media-focused, making content acquisition and use cumbersome.

Editorial opinion startupxo

Thanks to video glasses that provide separate 1080p screens to each eye, the sense of depth in 3D movies, which hadn't improved for a long time, has been greatly enhanced. However, since 3D Blu-rays still rely on old technology, it remains to be seen how quickly new 3D content that fits the 4K HDR streaming era will expand. I'm also curious about how such new 3D viewing environments might affect eye fatigue during extended use.
