- OpenAI has released 700 mathematics papers created with a proprietary cutting-edge AI model on GitHub. These papers include 372 groups of related problems and contain solutions to hundreds of unsolved problems. - AGMAI, an advisory panel of experts in mathematics and AI, recommends that AI researchers promptly publish their papers through formal academic channels and transparently disclose details such as model names, prompt formulas, and computational costs. - According to OpenAI, the results released this time were obtained with an average of 3 hours of computation using ChatGPT Pro. However, the solutions proposed by AI require additional verification by mathematicians. - This release has sparked active debates on the methods of academic paper publication, ethics, and recognition of researchers' contributions, as AI rapidly enters the field of mathematical research.

Editorial opinion startupxo

It is notable that OpenAI's mathematics paper specifies the computational resources used for each model, as well as the procedures for paper revision and citation. However, I am curious about how widely AI-generated solutions will be accepted in the academic math community and what specific verification methods mathematicians will apply. We should also watch to see if, as AGMAI recommends, the custom of subjecting AI research results to rigorous academic peer review, not simply using them for promotional purposes, becomes established.
