- Ring's first smart door lock is designed so that when the battery runs out, you can open the locked door by turning the handle dial without a physical key. - This door lock supports fingerprint recognition and a backlit touchscreen keypad, allowing multiple users to be registered and temporary access codes to be set with automatic expiration. - It uses a built-in replaceable battery and connects not via Wi-Fi but through Amazon's low-power long-range wireless network called Sidewalk, enabling lock status management via a mobile app or Amazon Alexa. - It is scheduled to be released in the US in early 2027 for 249 dollars, available in black, silver, and brass colors.

The idea that you can turn the handle dial to open the door even when the battery is dead is quite unique. However, they haven't disclosed how many times you need to turn the dial or how quickly it fully charges, so I'm curious about the actual user experience. Also, it uses the Amazon Sidewalk network instead of Wi-Fi, so we need to look into how extensive and reliable that network's coverage and stability are.
